Sesame Chikki (Sesame Brittle)
Crunchy, nutty, and naturally sweet, sesame chikki (also known as sesame brittle or til chikki) is a beloved winter classic in Indian cuisine. This quick and easy treat combines roasted sesame seeds with jaggery for a wholesome, traditional snack.
Steps
- Dry roast 1 cup sesame seeds on low flame until golden brown and aromatic
- Heat 1 cup jaggery in a pan on low heat with a small amount of water until it forms a thick syrup
- Add 1 tsp ghee to the jaggery syrup and mix well
- Once syrup is thick enough, add the roasted sesame seeds and mix quickly
- Add a pinch of cardamom powder and mix
- Transfer mixture to a greased pan or wax paper and spread evenly using a rolling pin
- Cut into small pieces while still warm
