Soft, melt-in-your-mouth Holige (also known as Obbattu or Puran Poli) is a beloved South Indian sweet flatbread perfect for festivals like Ugadi. This version features a delicious filling made with toor dal, chana dal, and coconut.

Steps

  1. Mix maida, turmeric, salt, oil, and water to form a soft dough
  2. Cook toor dal and chana dal until soft
  3. Mash the cooked dals and mix with jaggery, grated coconut, cardamom powder, and nutmeg to make the filling
  4. Divide dough into portions and roll out each portion
  5. Place filling in the center of rolled dough and seal
  6. Roll out the stuffed dough gently into a flatbread
  7. Cook on a hot pan until golden spots appear on both sides
